Wow! I can’t believe that it’s been 2 weeks since I blogged last – time flies whether you are having fun or not! (we have been!)

It’s been pretty busy around here, with Vaughn busy on a remodel, the kids working at the KOA, and starting school (somewhat). The weather is starting to make it feel like fall around here, and I’m getting the bug to head south. We aren’t quite ready to head out yet though. We’ve told the boys that we will try to stay around through some of hunting season, and Hannah and Eli are happy to still be on the work schedule even though the busy season at the campground is over. Last night was the last night that we were ‘officially’ the campground hosts since, starting today, campers don’t have to pay to stay in the campground. We want to stay in our site a week or so more since a family that we would really like to meet is coming in to one of the pavilions next weekend.

Sept. 1 we celebrated Molly’s 1st birthday!
She was pretty excited with both the cake and the candle. I was pretty bummed when it hit that my baby is ONE YEAR OLD!!! I’m not sure how it happened! And while she is loads of fun, it is a little bittersweet to have her walking, jabbering, and seeing her unique personality coming out.
She couldn’t believe that the kids were egging her on to grab a handful of cake…

It took awhile, and lots of encouragement, but the chocolate won in the end…

This past Friday we went to visit Vaughn’s parents in their new apartment nearby…

And then today we had a company party for theKOA. Sharon had a 100# pig roasted Cuban style…

It was pretty cool – we had never been to a pig roast before!

The kids had a great time with their new (to this summer) friends from the campground (and in this case church too!)…

We had lots of other yummy Cuban dishes too!

This is Nick – he and Eli take care of the grounds since the groundskeeper had an accident. It is really pretty funny – we all think that they look alike – they are built the same, dress the same…can’t tell which one is which from the back or very far away! LOL! And then Sharon gave out awards…

Hannah got an award for Miss Congeniality since Sharon has never seen her not smiling (it happens), and Thomas got Most Likely to Become Donald Trump for always being up at the campground asking if he can pull weeds (for an hourly wage of course!) – he is a hard little worker :), and Eli got an award too.
I got the Lead Foot award (hey, it is 6 miles to do the rounds in the campground! – besides, I’ve always had one. PLUS, Sharon can’t talk… ROFLOL!!!), and I also received the Campground Nark award (though I’m pretty sure that the kids that were ‘borrowing’ the electric car at night, and the Hutterites that were soliciting veggies through the campground…don’t think that I should get an award for tattling!)!
The party was a lot of fun!!!
We are kinda bummed that the season is pretty much over!
I have been going through clothes getting out some warm stuff. Last year we took only summer clothes since I thought that being south meant that you had summer weather all year! This year I know better, so I am getting out warm clothes for while we are here the next month or so, and for the trip, in case we have snow on Christmas again.
I’ve ordered all the Christmas gifts that I wanted to get through the mail and they are hidden away (do you know how hard that is to do in an RV???), and the cooler weather makes me want to stock up on groceries like I would have in the house. I catch myself bulk buying, and not sure where we are going to put everything, like the 30+ boxes of Honey Nut Cheerios (my personal fav), when it is time to hit the road.
We are winding down from a wonderful summer of being parked at a great site surrounded by great people – we will miss it, but we are starting to really feel the urge to hit the road and visit new places and meet new friends (and old! – can’t wait to visit Texas’ Lake Whitney and Mr. Nealy again!!!)
I’m off to go through the little girls shoes since they cannot take 12 pairs each with us!!! 😉
Can’t wait to meet some of you on the road!!!

  1. Wow, a year old! It’s true about the personality, you can just see in the photos that she’s more and more her own person – when I found your blog she was just a baby.

And I’ve said the same thing about your kids smiling. 🙂 You were gonna post photos of them being out of temper but you never did yet!

  2. Oh golly – I totally forgot (happens a lot I’m afraid!)
And Peanut just got over a doosey of one too! All over not getting to eat carrots right before bed. 🙁

  3. Happy Birthday One Year Old!

I am glad I’m not the only one buying 30 boxes of cereal. It looks like February before we get to leave again, but the house may sell before that. So what the heck am I supposed to do with 23 boxes of dishwashing tablets? My sister is going to be inheriting some free stuff I think.
