Happy 12th to Thomas…

After we left Lake Whitney Monday morning, we went north to Holiday Park, a COE campground on Benbrook Lake. We were fortunate that they had a site large enough for us since it was spring break! We were in a lovely sit near the lake.

The boys could go fishing…

While Hannah and I ran into Fort Worth and picked up a few groceries (so glad to be back in the land of Costcos!) and picked up Hannah’s best friend Lydia from college. She had stayed in TX for spring break, so we decided to invade her quiet, solitary break and remind her of what she was missing by not going home (she is from a fam with 11 kids too!) 🙂

We got back to the campground in time to bring chicken to BBQ… The girls enjoyed riding their bikes on the pavement near the camper, and just running around. It is a beautiful park.We had a great time with Lydia – Molly warmed up first thing… and the kids taught Lydia how to play Farkle while dinner was cooking (FYI, you can download the directions online – you need only 5 dice to play which makes it a great camper game!)… And then, after dinner, we celebrated Thomas’ 12th birthday… we picked up this cake for him at Costco. It looked so yummy!!! It was marked that it was a white cake on the inside – well, it was some chocolate raspberry torte thingy – not a hit.

Thank goodness we had picked up their super yummy vanilla ice cream too, so no one was too disappointed about the cake. I love that Thomas and Daniel are so close. They are best buddies!

I know that I always say this, but I can’t believe that Thomas is 12 already! That tiny 5#8oz baby boy is no longer a baby! Time goes by way too fast, and I am so thankful that we can spend this time together working toward common goals and living life on the same page.

Life doesn’t get any better than watching your babies grow to be strong young adults (we don’t believe in teenagers!LOL!). Now, if that time would just slow down a bit 🙂

Happy 12th birthday big guy!!! We love you tons!!!

  1. My friend directed me to this site. Right away I started looking over all the past posts. Thank you so much for sharing your life; I’ve loved reading about it. I currently have five children and we spent last summer living at a campground. Although, it wasn’t something we really looked forward to at the time, it turned out to be a great experience.
I wasn’t able to find out much about your homeschooling and wondered if you could include something about that.
    Happy 12th birthday, Thomas.

  2. Tell him his cousins say “Happy Birthday!”, and send their love!!
