The Living Room…

Room 2 –

this tour won’t take many days as we don’t have many rooms :)

This is the main living area. The door at the far end of the room goes into the boy’s room.

The ladder in front of the door goes up to the girls’ loft (which I will show in another post).

Our Rv has 2 slides in the livingroom of the rv, which greatly increases the floorspace. On the driver’s side of the main room is a small slide. When we bought the rv, it had a small hide-a-bed in here, which we left for the first 6 months. Then, Vaughn and the boys built dinette benches to go in here. The benches have storage underneath, which we have used to hold extra jackets and blankets, and where I keep a small bit of scrapbooking supplies 😉

We had a friend who is a cabinet builder make us a table, whose design is rather unusual for an rv since, while it is attached to the wall like most rv tables, it also has 2, foot-long extensions so that we can add additional seating if we would like – works great for game nights! I had intended on finding some 18 in. tall round folding stools to use at the open end of the table, but can’t find any without beer advertising!

Above the table are cupboards. One side is used to hold misc. schoolwork and extra papers, music books, and games. The other side houses large pots and pans and the vitamix when we are not using it.

We have done various things with the little girls dollies and other toys, and currently they are kept in a basket that gets moved from here and there in the livingroom, but is usually found in this corner.

The rv came with 4 tvs – this one, one in the master bedroom, one in the loft and another outside (those 2 we took out). I still toy with taking this one out and putting in bookshelves.

For now, it stays, and while we do not watch ‘tv‘, we do use the dvd player and movies.

There is some storage surrounding the tv. It is rather shallow, but just right for smaller books, a Bose, and a few little storage boxes in which we keep card/travel games. It is also just the right size for cd cases. To conserve space, we took all our movies out of their plastic cases and placed them into cd binders. At first I bought the biggest binder that I could find, but it was hard to handle – bulky and weighed a ton! We soon replaced it with smaller ones, and organize them as to whether they are educational/cartoons/family…

The other slide in the living area is a larger one called an ‘atrium’ slide because of all the windows and skylights. In the slide are a rocker-recliner (which doesn’t recline very far :), and a hide-a-bed couch.

We don’t really store a lot of stuff in the livingroom even though that is where we spend the majority of our time. My family pretty much is always together, and we do everything from schoolwork to dessert and games in the main room.

I love the windows that are in this area – they make the room seem bigger and we get to enjoy the lovely scenery here. And while it may be close quarters at times, our family enjoys the closeness that living in an rv has brought us!
