The summer of freedom has already begun! LOL!
We are feeling so empowered to do things that we have wanted to do, but didn’t have the time for before. One of the things that the boys have wanted to try their hand at, is shooting competitions – both 3 gun, and pistol. Greg (our oldest), shoots them for fun, and all the boys have expressed an interest in doing the same. Comps are always on the weekends, and if we were hosts, it would be hard to get away for the shoots very often.
BUT, now that we are foot-loose and fancy-free, the boys can give it a whirl. (and Beth if she’s interested! She says that she will compete if her dad buys her that new pistol and has it dipped! LOL!)
So, that is what we are doing tomorrow. 
Which means tonight they are getting their weapons cleaned and ready to go…
While traveling is fabulous, there are some wonderful things that come with being stationary also! Being in Montana for a few months will give the boys a chance to join a local shooting club, to get the chance to go to different kinds of shoots to see if/which ones they want to pursue practicing for, and give us the chance to reload what we’ve shot up in the last year! LOL! I don’t know if this is something that the kids will want to do long-term (or which kids are committed), but I do know that I’m still so excited that our time to re-group is also going to be a time of exploration for us – finding new places we love to camp, spending time with family and friends, and getting to try out new experiences! 
We’re pretty excited about it all! LOL!

I truly enjoy reading your blog. We are a traveling family of 4 and have been on the road for 15 months with no current end in sight. We are in Washington now, then headed to Idaho and then Montana. We will be in Helena to visit the Capitol in a couple weeks. Do you have any suggestions on campgrounds there.

There are not many campgrounds, at least campgrounds that offer full hookups, in the vicinity of Helena. The only one that is fairly close, is Lincoln Road RV Park. It is located roughly 10 miles from the Capitol, in the Helena valley. I cannot give you a review since we have never stayed there. It has become a tradition that every year I call them and try to make reservations to stay there. And every year, when they get to the infamous “how many people” question, and I say 12, they pause and then, depending on who answers the phone, they either freak and not very nicely tell me that we have too many people and we can’t possibly stay there, or they pick their chin off the floor and say that they are sorry but their site limit is 8 (ok, the nice reply has only happened once…).
The park is not particularly kid friendly, but it is next to an elementary school, so the kids could go play on the equipment. And, since the Mulacs stayed there when they came to visit us last year, I do know that they will take two kids. 😉
There is a KOA about 30 miles out of town, but I would not recommend staying there.
If you like to boondock, I can give you info on lots more places to stay. 🙂
