Dove hunting in Montana…

boys leading on doves

While we are in Montana for the summer, we like to do as many of our fav things as possible.  But this summer we haven’t done any – from getting back here a month later than usual, Vaughn and Jake spending a month in Alaska, then the firework stand, and then working like madmen to get the bank account where it should be after the extra volunteering, we haven’t done much at all.  So it was extra fun to see the guys get out this weekend with a couple of dear friends, and go dove hunting!

boys after dove hunting

Saturday the guys went dove hunting with our pastor – Joel isn’t old enough to hunt yet since he’s only 11 (have to be 12 in MT), but he went along as bird dog 😉
It was Daniel’s first year hunting. He was old enough to go last year, but since I couldn’t get him in a hunter’s safety class last year, he wasn’t allowed to hunt.

They had a great time and got a few birds.

Then after church on Sunday, they went out with another longtime friend Mark (and his son).  They got a few more on Sunday, and brought home 79 to clean.

While we like to eat doves, the real fun is in the fellowship and the hunt.

We do miss our home-friends while we are on the road, so we love to get together with them during our limited time back home, when we can!

these 2 have been friends for.ev.er.

3 weeks and counting, and we are so excited to be on the road again.
But we also miss Montana when we are gone…

We love making memories here in Montana just as much as we do on the road.

… and there really isn’t anything on the road quite like hunting in Montana. with family and friends.

Getting ready to clean today’s harvest

Yes we love to travel, but we also love Montana.  Mostly, we love that we are able to give our kids both the roots of having a ‘home-town’ to come home to with its familiarity, BFFS, and family, and also giving them the wings to see the country, experience new experiences, and meet new friends through our travels.
Lots to fit into our last 3 weeks here for the season!
And we also have lots going on here online!  While things have been silent here on your side of the blog, big changes are going on behind the scenes.  A new name, a new look, a new site.  Can’t wait to share it with you right before we hit the road…  :)

    Hello Tickner Family

Sounds like you are still travelling and doing well. We are going to be travelling down WA, OR and CA for Oct and Nov and wondered if you are on the east coast this year? We would love to hook up again and have a visit if you are around this area. Let us know.

    Thanks! The Harper’s – Canada

    Hi Dana,
It’s great to hear how things are going. I’m sure these next couple of weeks will be super busy. Praying for some great times with dear friends and family as your time to get back on the road draws near!
Speaking of traveling, if you’re ever up this way (New Hampshire), we’d sure love to meet the tribe and show you some of our beautiful state.
Dove hunting sounds fun! My boys are gearing up to start geese and duck hunting.
    Blessings on your beautiful family,
    Sara Bilodeau
