TOS Review – Beeyoutiful natural products…

One of the things that our family has been tryng to do the past few years, is to use natural products and foods.  I would love to feed my family all organic foods, but we haven’t won the lottery yet…(course, if you saw what we ate while on the road all day today, you wouldn’t believe me! LOL!)   One thing that I have been doing tho, is to use more, if not all, natural products to treat wellness issues.  Our family is very blessed to be quite healthy, and I do give the kids good vitamins (why yes, there are bad vitamins – at least ones that are a waste of money and effort!).

Recently, for the TOS crew, we had the chance to try and to review a few products that aren’t homeschool related, even though that is usually all I review.  The products from Beeyoutiful that we were able to choose from were a make-up set, a skin-care set, and natural wellness products.  Since so many other On The Road families are also interested in natural treatments for their medicine chest, I chose the Berry Well products.  I received 4 products, and a DVD that explained how to use them (along with covering Beeyoutifuls other products as well):

B.A.L.M. – stands for Beeyoutiful All-natural Lip Moisturizer.  BALM comes in both orange and peppermint.  We received the orange version to try, and love it!  At $3 (or 3 or more for $2.70 ea), the cost is comparible, if not cheaper than, other naturally based lip balms.  It is not such a hard mixture that it is difficult to apply; it goes on smoothly, is refreshing, and is one of the fastest healing balms that we have used.  I have one son that has chronically chapped lips, and this one has helped him tons.

Berry Well – One of the main ingredients in Berry Well is organic elderberry syrup – did you know that elderberry syrup is an anti-viral?  Designed to enhance your immune system, this mixture of raw honey (to sweeten the taste), elderberry syrup, and echinacea.  It also includes apple cider vinegar, which increases your body’s alkalinity.  The vinegar does affect the smell and taste, but if you are fighting a stuffy nose anyway, you won’t notice!   We haven’t had a chance to use this – while it would be great to take a maintenance dose of this to help build your immune system during flu season, I was hoping for a real chance to use this…but none of us have shown any symptoms of getting sick.  I have done enough natural remedies dosing on my kids to know that this will be great for either fending off a cold or greatly reducing it’s effects!  A 8 oz. bottle (which is 16 adult doses) runs $19.75.

Miracle Skin Salve – This salve is made from a blend of organic oils and herbs, and is meant to be used on rashes, sunburns, chapped lips, bites, and cuts.  All of the ingredients were chosen for their healing and antioxident properties, and it even includes lavendar known for it’s calming effect.   This is the product that we used (and loved!) the most!  I have been using it mainly for 2 uses – on Caleb’s bottom (no double dipping! LOL!), and for my dry heals.  Caleb gets a red bottom very easily (thinking I’m going to change him to Seventh Gen. diapers – I am NOT doing cloth on the road!!!), and this is one of the most affective ointments/salves that I have come upon.  I have chronically dry heals, and this has been great at softening them up!  I like it so much better than lotion – it isn’t runny, and it stays on and soaks in better.  There are 2 different sizes available; we reviewed the 2 oz. containter, which costs $15.00.

Ow!Ease – We have been using this arnica based salve stick mostly to reduce bruising.  This is a topical treatment, not to be used on open wounds (unlike Miracle Skin Salve, which can be used on minor wounds), and can also be used as a rub for sore muscles.  I have loved Arnica for a long time – I found it after I had Joel (my 10.6, 1st home birth baby-I discovered a lot of stuff to recoup from him! :) ).  Arnica is great for treating both varicose and spider veins!  I also have always had a tendancy to bruise easily, so Arnica gets a good workout in our house.  I usually use Arnica cream, but I love the form that Ow!Ease comes in – the stick is not messy yet rubs on easily!  This is one of my new fav products!  A 1 oz. tube retails for $15.

We also recieved the Beeyoutiful Views DVD, in which Stepanie Tallent, the founder of Beeyoutiful, shares some of her knowledge of natural remedies, and how she uses them in her home.   At $3, this is a super resource for anyone that is interested in learning more about natural remedies, especially those without a lot of experience (me 😉 ).  It is great for learning what each Beeyoutiful product works best for (there are tons more than what The Crew reviewed!), and gives you the confidence to institute some natural remedies and health builders in your own home.   Stephanie personally shares how and why she uses different products in her home, including with her daughter.

Summary – I loved the products that I received from Beeyoutiful!  I have a firm preference for natural products, but on that note, I love (and share) their stance on traditional medicine… that there is a huge need (and appreciation!) for traditional medicine, especially for trama/urgent care situations.    There are often natural remedies or lifestyle changes that we can institute ourselves, that can have a major impact on our overall health.    I think that Beeyoutiful, Healthy Living for a Real World, is a great place to start making those changes.

The TOS Crew had 3 Beeyoutiful sets to choose from.  If you’d like to read other reviews, including more for wellness products, some for skin care, and others for makeup products, you can find them here.
